All pics I receive in text messaging comes as videos

Every time someone sends me a picture thru text it comes in as a video instead of a regular pic and I am having a hard time saving it. Is there something I need to change so that it comes in as a picture and not a video? Anyone help me with this please.

I think it's just a standard type deal that it comes through as a video/slideshow.
I found a way to get around it though, by mistake actually, haha.
You just press down on the actual message, avoid pressing the picture with the play button.
A box should appear with a lot of options such as, lock message, view slideshow, copy attached to SD card, etc.
You click on copy attached to SD card and then go to your Gallery app.
From there, the picture from the message should be in the downloads folder.
And you can open the picture and do anything to it just like one you would take with the camera on the phone.
